They are for show first, but there are a few who have hole-sawed through the side engine bay sheet metal (not sure that's such a good idea) to get engine heat to go out sideways.
Does it actually work? I dunno, maybe.

Intresting......... I would think you still have to do something else other than a hole through the sheet metal.

Well, you don't have to use a saw. You could use a cutting torch or maybe even strong tin snips.

i have the hole through mine, it definitly does get rid of alot of the body heat......before when I popped the hood, there was a ton of heat, but since the fenders got installed with the engine area breathe thru, there is basically no heat at all.....

^^^there's better way to dissipate heat though.I wouldn't go to the extreme and hole saw the body.Specially not for performance.I mean cutting through metal for tracking purpose will most likely cause more flex IMO!!!

ah, sorry guys my stuipd alert notice didn't work on this site.

So yes they are mainly for show only, they give the car something extra. I am waiting to ship these out to my client still.

Not sure if you guys want to cut a whole your inner firewall support, there is a reason why they call it firewall!

^^

Could use it too cool your brakes, if you had air coming over the front of the brakes.

how would this benefit the brakes,if the vent is in the backside of the fender?I would rather have cooling ducts directed straight into the rotor from the front bumper....Then again thats just me.I think the fenders are a really nice addition but as far as performance for brakes, there is more options!Just my thoughts

I've always just seen these as a visual mod. Nothing more. I personally feel that my own car is still just a station wagon with a little more style than the Griswold-mobile. Performance in this underpowered, extremely heavy wagon with a drag coefficient not unlike that of a flying brick never really comes to mind.
It takes a LOT of motor (and money) to make these cars REALLY go fast, so until I decide it's truly worth it, I'll do the visual pieces that help to stand the ride out a little bit.
As for the necessity of cooling brakes, I have R1 Concepts slotted and dimple-drilled rotors along with ceramic brake pads. If that doesn't do the job, I don't think the fenders or even the cooling ducts in my SRT fascia will do much more. Besides, I don't road race or rally drive and that's the only time I could think of that I would need all the help I could get in the cooling department.

Thats what I mean, if you have the SRT front end and then with air ducts to bring the cool air over the brakes. Then have fenders take the air out of the wheel well, that will have less negative air flow drag.

So there is three options on what you can do with them.
