PostSubject: Under hood/Fabric Removal   24th June 2010, 8:51 pm

Ok so I removed the fabric under my hood today and cut my middle finger on it. Damn that edge was surprisingly sharp. So when I removed it the underside was not completely painted and looks like ass. I don't want to show up Sunday with the underside of my hood looking like this.

Anybody got suggestions were I could find a similar blue? Don't want to pay the body shop to paint it. Was thinkin maybe putting a mopar emblem or something under it. Also did you hide your winshield washer hose?

Just don't get the "Bad Mod Bug"...or you'll find yourself upbadging and sticking on fake hood scoops.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.

But to cover it up a big piece of vinyl might do it. If you need a name of a shop let me know I can PM it to you, its prolly about 45 mins south of you but they do good work and quick.

Hell no I hate shit like that. It has to serve a purpose not just to make me look "cool". There is another magnum on base that is the same color as me but has old english writing and fender vents on it. Ruined the car and he gives me looks like my ride is shit compared to his. mad1

I'd put it back on. It reduces noise from the engine compartment.

Yeah I would have put it back cause it looks horrible without it but my lack of grace didn't allow me.

Called Libertyville Dodge and they have a can of the midnight blue spray paint in stock. I will pick it up this afternoon and fix the underside if the hood.

Actually for anyone here Advanced Auto carries most Mopar paint. I was surprise that they carry both spray cans and nail polish bottles of Inferno Red. Perfect for color matching or paint chips.

Midnight blue was not on their shelves yesterday. I'm thinking that i will have to remove the hood to do a good job. What do you think?

Nah you could get away with parking it in your garage and taping off the engine compartment and being careful.

Thats the way to go, it will take 10 minutes to take the hood off vs about an hr to tape off the engine. I would tape of the finished side of the hood though to protect from overspray.
