PostSubject: Autocross   12th July 2010, 10:26 pm

So I had to work the Autocross at Maywood Park on Sunday (the day of Fiesta Days), that's why I couldn't show, my work is a sponsor of Windy City BMW car club, we do ALOT of there cars, tires, alignments, etc.. This time I wa told to bring my car and slap the magnet on the side, which I was cool with. So I parked it in front of our box truck. Hung out for a while, and got to talking with the coordinators and I guess there is an agreement that they allow one car of a sponsor to run. So I got to Autocross my car for the first time, SO MUCH FUN!! It was like a "beat fest" on my car, but well worth it!! I NOW know why Jontoad does it, it's a TOTAL test of driving ability and a test of you're car. I got to do 8 runs total, 2 sets of 4 laps. I guess I did OK for it being my first time ever doing it, I was averaging like 56-57 seconds, and on the last time I shaved off 4 seconds and got a 52 something, THAT felt great!! All the guys cheered LoL My car was probably the heaviest car too LoL BUT I can say the lowering springs and that Pedders sway bar really held up great!! I DID manage to get better times though then a couple other guys, so that felt good too Laughing

I got a few pics I snagged from their website, and am waiting on the pics from our work camera. Afterwards they were doing "fun runs" with their cars and rode with one of the "mentors", one of the guys who rode with me as well, in his BMW and OH MY GOD, he showed me how it was really done!! This thing felt like it was on rails, and REALLY pushed that little car to it's limits, he was one of the guys with the fastest times as well.. Here's some pics and a link, I'll get more pics when I get them emailed to me.... it's bad cause I had ALOT of fun and wouldn;t mind doing it some more next time....

sears center is not flat like maywood it peaks to about 5 feet higher in the middle for drainage. you can not see cars on the other side of the course.

here are some pics to show you how its not flat like mayood (is that guy running the big guy from revenge of the nerds? lol)

Not sure what or where that is, but I would really enjoy going to watch an aitocross event. Maybe by then I'll have the rest of my bushes installed. Next Wed. it begins. 16-20 hrs. of labor left and it's done. study
