What did the dealer need from you to get a new key? You were already in their computer, no doubt._________________ Another quality sig by DartBoy. Nine out of ten dentists approve. |

| I just drove my car there and they looked at my VIN and took the one key that I had. Viking Dodge which is most likely ONE of the many reasons they are no longer in business. _________________ Girl 'Goin Bad' Go•Man•Go #3918/4000 |

Oh yeah... you got that right. They were a complete mess and had one horror story after another. Hate to see anyone lose their job but those guys had it comin' for sure. |

Well, if a thief can do that, why on Earth would they want another key? The point being, it's not as easy as the OP's post would suggest._________________ Another quality sig by DartBoy. Nine out of ten dentists approve. |

| I just called 2 Dodge dealers Elgin, and Schaumburg. I told them I lost my only key to my Charger and how can I get a new key. They said bring your vin # and a picture Id to the dealer. I then told them my wallet is in my car so I cant bring an Id. They both told me that they cant make the key with out an ID. They both also suggested calling a tow service or locksmith to open the car so I can get my wallet. _________________ "Don't talk about it, be about it" "Get in where you fit in"

Way to go, Shawn! I suspect that even if you walked in there with an ID, you may run into some additional obstacles if you are not in their computer system as the owner of the car.
As I indicated before, you have to take these email rumors with a grain of salt and as the Snopes piece I provided detailed, there's more to this story than just copying a VIN and providing it to a dealer to magically get a duplicate key made._________________ Another quality sig by DartBoy. They both asked me for my name, so I wonder if they looked me up in the computer. I have done business with both dealers. _________________ "Don't talk about it, be about it" "Get in where you fit in"
