so my stainless mufflers and tips have seen better days,can i use rubbing compound on them?will it be a bad idea?

mainly my mufflers a few scratches that can be seen from the rear not underneath....

I tried that it helps but I got some deeper scratches...i know I'm picky but oh well

You could always try a polishing compund with a drill with a bugffing wheel on it

if the scratches are deeper, try rubbing compound first, and then to polishing compound.. the rubbing is a little more "abrasive" than the polishing compound... i think they also sell something at the auto parts store for it too...
