I'm pretty bummed rite now!!! My car has a nice 1" scrape, gash, or whatever you want to call it on the passenger side front door. I still took in to WOW, I spent to much time and money the last 6 weeks to not go. Not gonna go in to details of how it happened or where it happened at. All I will say is the company that is responsible for the damage is stepping up and paying for it to get fixed. Its not really bad but looks like shit and couldnt happen at a worst time. Took it to my painter to see if he could do anything today in 2hrs time and he couldnt, needs a new door skin. So I'm going to put a note on my car for the judges to see tomorrow night and explain what happened. My question is do I touch it up or leave it raw so the judges can see its fresh and know I'm not bullshitting???? Over the last 6 weeks I have run in to problem after problem with my mods, just when I thought I turned the corner and had her rite for WOW now this happens. Like I said earlier I'm bummed beyond words, if I didnt have to be at work at 5am tomorrow I would probably be getting hammered!!!

I would leave it & put a big over sized Bandaid on it.

Must be a big ass dent to have a shop say it needs a door skin.

Not a big dent rather small, but wrinkled. So options are fill with bondo or new skin. I can tell you this, nobody is putting bondo on my car!

You know to put a skin on they will have to grind the edge off the door skin,peel it off, gring the inside edge,fit a new skin,
fold it over the door frame, some shops may be upto date & use a door bonding glue, if not they will weld it on & use body filler ( Bondo is something you get at K-Mart) all around the edge.
now you have opened up the whole door edge to rust , and the crimp seam on the inside lip will never be the same.

Hell its a show car, insist on a complete oem ,out of the box new door shell

Ya I know what you mean by bondo (body filler), I just still call it bondo. Didnt realize doing the skin was as you say. So I'm, gonna ask for what you said.

Cant hide it from the judges. Spectators wont see it because I'm displaying the drivers side.

When I was at Mr. Norm's yesterday I was watching Chris building a rear Cuda fender out of a Challenger. You know the Norm's Cuda cars, they have correct Cuda fenders. Anyhow it was just welded up where the Cuda panel goes on to be correct. It looked like a big piece of bare metal welded all the way around in that area of the rear quarter panel. He just touched it here and there with a grinder to knock down some high spots on the weld. Then he applied some kind of reddish pink shit all over the new piece and it was perfect. You couldn't tell.

That's some fucked up shit, Shawn. Sorry for your luck. I think your right, just leave it and put a note on it for the judges. Hope for mercy!!!! Damn man!
